Confidence Level Indicator Pricing Policy Change

To help deliver maximum value in every business search, Equifax currently provides a “list of similars” in your search results that assist you in identifying the correct business name that matches your original search criteria. Each business name in the returned list is assigned a “Confidence Level Indicator” (CLI) which is based on a proprietary algorithm that determines the quality of the resulting match.

CLI, which range from 1 (lowest quality match) to 10 (highest quality match), are a unique and important product feature that can help you decide which business name matches most to your original request. Equifax Canada Commercial’s current policy is to apply a charge for any search results returned with a CLI of 10. Beginning June 17th, this policy will be changed.

What’s Changing

Thorough analysis of the CLI and feedback from customers show the CLIs of 8 or above are considered the highest quality matches. By this, we mean that these matches have scientifically been proven to deliver the best match results for each business search. In view of the value of the CLIs that are returned, our pricing policy will be adjusted accordingly.

  • Effective June 17th, 2012, pay-as-you-go customers will be charged once per business search for any search results returned within the “list of similars” with a CLI of 8 or better. To further clarify, this per-search fee will be charged one time whether you receive 1 result or 5 results with a CLI of 8 or higher.
  • The new CLI charge will apply only for results delivered with CLI 8 or greater if a report is not selected. This charge will equal your current report price.
  • Please note, subscription customers will not be impacted by this policy change at this time.
